Recenly a friend of mine called me and told me to come and pick up all of his dads reloading equipment, his dad had passed a while back and he had no interest in reloading it was just in his way so three truckloads later I had more reloading equipment and supplies than I could believe.  one of the things I got is a lot of powder it is all old but in unopend containers except one that I opend to smell, the three powders I got are accurate arms mp5744, mr3100 and, Mr223. is this the same as aa5744, aa3100 and aa2230? and what reloading data do I use for these?  Any help that someone could give me on this would be great I would hate to not be able to use this stuff.

Fullmag,

I don't have your answers. However I do have an observation.  If the powder you have in your hand is not listed exactly in the reloading recipe, I suggest that you not use it.  You should also bear in mind that smokeless powder is constantly being changed as time goes on.  As a result, the recipe may be unsafe with the older powder.

There are a lot of great powders out there, for all conceivable purposes, and you safest move might be to discard that old powder and buy the latest formulated products.

dhhardw,

thats why I was looking for someone that had some older data on this powder, i've ran into newer powder that was hotter than the latest data for it, thats why you start low and work up I suppose.  I will have a hard time just throwing out a hundred lb of powder thats still good if I can find data on it.  I have e-mailed accurate hopefully they can come up with somthing for me.

fullmag,

I guess you didn't get any old reloading manuals in those three truckloads, eh?  I have a few reloading manuals from the sixties that I got from my mother-in-law.  I will see if they list any of those old powders.  You can also buy old reloading manuals off of Ebay.  That might help also.  I will let you know.

I've got the old reloading pamphlets from various powder makers going back to the early 80's, and all those powders sound familiar to me, I know I used some of them at one time or another.  AA still offers 5744, MR-223 had its name changed to 2230, and 3100 is still offered, as far as I know.  I'll have to check and see what I can find.......what calibers are you trying to load?

ok accurate got back to me this week this is what johan said.....
mr-3100 = a-3100
mp-5744 = a-5744
mr-223 = a-2230
also I did find some old accurate data sheets in the tons of books that I got with all the other reloading equipment and supplies that was given to me, the old data sheets are very limited with diffrent load combinations back in the 80's but will still be usefull thanks for the help guys.
