Every time I go to the shooting range i scavange for brass LOL

Been to Northern CA lately? Shasta area? Or for that matter, been to anywhere in CA? Or just talking out your hat? It's really easy to bad mouth a state from several hundred miles away. I've presented a logical explaination of how the popular vote is primarily from very densly populated sections of CA, and I get "commiefornia" in return!  Where do you live?

I get brass off my front lawn.
 
The people from California come to Arizona to sell stuff door to door.
Most of it is a rip-offs. So I put a sign up saying.

"No sales people"
"No Liberals
"No one from California"

With the amount of people shooting and a small population reloading I get all the range brass I can.
Carefully inspect it and gauge the stretch ring just above the head.
I then anneal the brass before use.

Hey that's how I pay for reloading. There is a range near me across the border in PA, and I like to go over there after a holiday weekend and pick up as much as I can. I use a rake and shovel, LOL! 70/30 cartridge brass is currently going for $1.40 a pound. Teh last time I cashed in I got $50 for a 5 gallon bucket full.

Usually it is easy to spot who wants to keep their brass.  If it is a kid with a 9 mil. and a good looking girl hanging on his arm...his cap is turned backwards, and he can't hit anything and doesn't care that he can't.  I just ask him if he saves his brass.  He looks at me like....what is brass...and I say do mind if I do.. and he says "whatever man"  I got 250 pieces of new 45 brass this week like that.

Let me give another point of view.  I work 12 to 15 hrs/week (on a volonteer basis) as a Range Officer at the local outdoor range, as do almost all of the ROs there.  The only "Pay" that we receive is the brass that we can pick up.  That might be the same situation on your range, as well, so maybe you should ask the RO what they do with brass that's left on the ground.
