Stuck Case

Hey Guys,
New to the forum. Wish it was under different circumstances. I've been reloading for several years and have run into something I've never had happen. I've had the normal stuck case a couple times where the rim rips off and the shell holder won't grab the case. Pull out the stuck case remover kit I have from RCBS and no worries.

This time reloading some 6.5mm TCU's. Anywho, instead of it ripping the rim, the whole case separated about a 1/4 inch up. Plenty of lube just a funked up case I suppose. A RCBS FL sizing die.

I've tried a few things I have around to get the dang thing out without tearing the die up. Nothing, Even ran another case up into it with super glue on it. No luck. Any tricks anybody could suggest?, or sending it back to RCBS the only answer?

Just a thought.  I have a set of stripped screw removers (my dad used to call these "easy-outs").  They are like taps, but with a left-hand thread.  You drill a hole in the screw and then screw the easy-out in.  As the left-hand thread goes into the screw, the torsional force unscrews the stripped screw. 

Now, for this problem.  If there is an easy-out that will fit in your stuck case you may be able to insert it into the case, screw it in and thereby get sufficient leverage to work the stuck case out. 

Another idea is a wooden dowel that is the same ID as the die (but larger than the case neck).  Insert the dowell in the die against the neck of the case and tap out using a plastic or rubber mallet. I'd drill a hole in a board and use the die against the board and over the hole for leverage.

I'm curious, are these cases factory or are they converted .223 cases.  If they are converted .223 cases, the conversion process and the increased neck diameter may have contributed to the case failure. 

That's about all I can think of.

Correction, on the wooden dowell idea.  The OD of the dowel would be the same as the ID of the dowell, but larger than the stuck case.
